Moving from Within, Dancing with the Divine, Gentle Movement from Within and Wisdom Dancing are created and facilitated by Dianne Brakarsh. She is an experienced teacher of mindful movement and dance, who has taught dance and movement to children, adolescents and adults in classes, workshops and residential and treatment settings over 25 years. Dianne’s extensive exploration of movement includes the study of ballet, jazz and contemporary dance, yoga, tai chi, aikido, African dance, contact improvisation, contemplative dance (aka Authentic Movement), aerial dance, Gabrielle Roth’s 5 Rhythms, Soul Motion and Continuum Movement. For several years she choreographed and performed with jazz troupes while working as a movement therapist in clinical settings. After earning degrees in movement therapy, education and business, Dianne earned her first of several certifications as a teacher of the Nia Technique, introducing Nia to Madison in 1999.
Her constantly evolving work includes whispers of many different styles of movement and meditation practices. Dianne’s commitment is to support her fellow dancers in attaining a heightened sensory awareness of the body as a Divine communicator – as a healthy, whole instrument designed to perceive and express authentically and joyfully.
